last night i returned $5.40 worth of empty rockstar 21s, corona bottles with moldy limes inside, miller highlifes, fat tires and a sparse collection of coca cola cans to the fred meyer bottle return. it was pushing 10:30 at night, and the hobo who id seen prowling around suddenly approached without stopping and handed me an empty plastic pepsi bottle with a smile. i put it in the machine as he walked beyond the illuminated parking lot, cashed in the slip...

and bought a few more rockstar 21s.
