im programmed by seven years of distance. distance that made thanksgiving a several day commitment. during my shower i went over my checklists.

check water levels in sump. check for leaks in plumbing. check temperature. check timers and lighting. make sure there is no meat in the fridge. lock all doors. turn off all lights. put up clever away message. bring phone. toothpaste. hair gel. shaver. extra clothes. sweater. double check locks on doors. make sure heaters are off.

just an excessive list of things to go over before i could feel comfortable leaving my home for a few days. its such a relief to suddenly remember that i only live 20 minutes away now, that work will not hinder the length of time i get to see my family nor will the distance between the two be a costly journey.
