"do you have a listing of the bus routes?"
"no. parents who choose to switch schools out of district are responsible for transporting their child. thats the choice."
"ok, well the district line is right across the street from my house."
"it doesnt matter, the buses dont go there."
"what about the people who live right there, the buses dont pick them up?"
"parents are responsible for the transportation of their child."
"so i couldnt just drive across the street, and have the school bus pick him up?"
"the buses are for families who live within the district. if you choose to switch districts you are responsible for transporting your child. thats the choice."
"hrmm," i said several minutes later after a long, penetratingly incredulous stare.

"i know youre not responsible for making up these rules, but couldnt you at least acknowledge or even apologize for how ridiculous you sound right now?"
