july. jesus. its november now.

i wish MIA was easier to type to. she is not. her music must be what having a migraine feels like. but in a good way.
just not right now.

i have 8 weeks of unemployment left. as i stared at the calculator screen, i felt the tremble of a small panic attack. i need to figure something out with much more urgency than i have been.

when this all started in may, i had things to do. places to go. projects to wrap up. but then school started. and suddenly my days opened up and i quickly ran out of things to do. so my default setting of lazy kicked in. what could i do that required the least amount of effort? a five season marathon of breaking bad. rewarding? yes. best use of my time? no.

so i spent two weeks looking for jobs. few hours a day. applied for a handful. while there is certainly plenty of available jobs out there, how could i possibly find one that i would enjoy?

UPS
Xerox
Vestas
Nike

i felt like a game of pin the tail on the donkey. no direction, and no idea how to find one. what skills do i have? what do i have to offer? a few years in corporate, six months in a managerial position? then i received an email:

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for applying for our Sales Director position. Are you available to chat on the phone this afternoon?

i was proud of the resume, but didnt think it qualified for what i was applying for. my career confidence is exceptionally low. so instead of a formal, well thought out cover letter, i quickly typed up a paragraph into the NOTE TO HIRING MANAGER field and clicked submit. i never expected a response.

now, after two phone calls with the president and an hour long discussion with the owner of the company, i am now awaiting a proposal letter. how much will they offer? will i need to counter offer?

in the fine print: pull your son out of school. pack up all of your belongings. say good bye to your family. and move julie and ashton to the east coast of florida.

MOVE TO FLORIDA.
