its sunday, november 17th, 2002.

in three days ill get a phone call from sarah. in three days i find out sarah is pregnant. my life changes. her life changes. everything changes. if i had known three days in advance it wouldnt really have changed anything. if i would have known all that has happened since then, i would have tried to make things change dramatically.

im sure she was using drugs the night before. methamphetamines. cocaine. marijuana. nicotine. i know that in three days she will at least be using three of those four heavily. throughout the day. right up until her pregnancy test. and she will still be high when i talk to her again in three days.

in three days it will be a year ago. a year without drugs. a year with a child. a year like any other before it.
