last night i dreamed that i bought a lvery large, a specimen almost three feet in diameter, heteractis magnifica anemone. for some reason, instead of placing it in an aquarium as soon as possible, i took it to the large swimming pool at a beach side resort i must have been staying at. i placed it at the bottom of the chlorine filled pool, and then went an played around with my friends nick, john and grant.

eventually i heard my name being shouted with importance. my laughter quieted as i could see what the problem was.

the pool suddenly had several chunks of fleshy material floating around. the top of the pool had a greasy sheen to it. i went underwater where i was able to see unassisted. there another person was carrying a large stringy section of what used to be my anemone. i quickly collected it and swam to where my specimen had attached itself to the bottom at the deep end.

it was in shards. pieces. huge sections of torn tissue floated lazily about. the foot of the giant beast still remained partially secured to the cement floor of the pool, but the upper portions were all torn and floating about amidst its own insides. i was devastated.

i came to the surface, knowing full well the animal was dead. i was so angry, i was rampant with ideas of children tugging at the animal, or some idiot thinking they could take it home and put it in their tank by just tearing it from the pool floor. suddenly the hotel owner appeared, and i had the sobering experience of trying to clean it up without taking any blame or admitting any guilt. it took a gigantic clear plastic sack. it smelled terrible. the anemone, being 99% water, was like putting several pounds of snot into a bag. it was terrible. i was so upset. and then it was too heavy to remove from the pool by myself, so i had a very large african american, i believe it was the guy from fried green tomatoes.

that was my nightmare of a dream last night.
