for all its faults, china really is on the forefront of foresight. a trait which the rest of the world seems to have lost in most aspects of progress.
1.3 billion people make up the approximate population of china. according to the US census bureau, the world population is soaring somewhere around 6,410,927,011. this makes china 20% of the worlds population. and they would have reached 1,300,000,000 people four year ago if they hadnt started a one child per family rule 30 years ago. while not a dramatic stop to millions of people being born, it still was a tremendous step in the right direction. and to enforce this law, couples who conceive more children are subject to loss of jobs, forced sterilization and hefty fines. good.
unfortunately, america, and im sure the rest of the world has seen this as an unnecessary and cruel restraint on the reproductive freedoms of human beings. the associated press states:
"The policy has kept the United States from giving money to the U.N. Population Fund for fear the money will go toward supporting coercive abortions in China."
so listen, everything hasa consequence. people around the world like tropical coastline resorts. so we destroy the nuisances of coral reefs and mangrove estuaries to make hotels and shrimp farms for the wealthy.
big mistake.
tidal waves, without any natural barriers to slow the waves down, destroy hundreds of thousands of lives and create one of the biggest natural disasters in recent memory.
why though? why remove pristine white sand beaches and lush coral reefs and mangrove wildlife sanctuaries for ugly buildings, garbage, cigarrette butts and grafiti? because there are too many people in the world. and everyone wants to go somewhere else to get away from the people they know. eventually, all coastlines will be filled with houses and condos. all useable land will be filled with buildings and skyscrapers. soon there will be people on every unfilled inch of ground.
with more people come higher energy needs, more gasoline consumption, more pollution, more garbage, more waste, more poison, more lieracy problems, more economic strain, more poor, more hungry, more landfills, more wars, more genocide, more yellow skies, more traffic, more undrinkable water, more crime, more murder, more neglect, more idiots.
what im getting at is that we need, as americans, to not want our space filled up with more assholes than we already have. america is prized because of its wide open spaces, our tremendously scenic natural landscapes, the freedom of space and distance between neighbors if so desired. but as much as people want reproductive freedom now, to have as many children as they want and to do as they please, they sure will be kicking themselves in the ass when all those beautiful areas we adore are filled with apartment complexes and minimalls.
but back to china. there they have a woman named mao hengfeng in a labor camp for her campaign to abolish the family planning policies. shell be there for almost two years.
"....Since her second pregnancy in the late 1980s, Mao has been assigned to psychiatric wards, coerced into an abortion and removed from her job..."
how terrible people will say. the sickening prolife movement here in the states will inevitably be outraged at the coerced abortion. damning it as a human rights violation. they too are part of the problem.
to be frank, we dont need any more fucking people. let some people die off first, then we can start up again.
remember what i said about actions having consequences? even in the things i enjoy, there are negative responses to seemingly good causes. chinese family favor boys over girls, and thus, because of the one child per family rule, there are 119 boys per 100 girls. thats a terrible ratio, and it will only get worse. this leaves alot of spouseless bachelors the longer this is allowed to progress. well china, get your fucking ideals correct. stop suppressing women and learn to appreciate and respect both sexes equally, if not better.
the second problem is something here at home americans are dealing with because of our naturally progressive shift in values. we have stopped having as many kids, and have kids later, if at all. where as china had to be forced to do this, we have slowly started to move in this direction. why? sex and money of course. careers and being single are more important than children and homes. but what this leaves us with is less youth paying for more retirees. quite the burden if you ask me. more old people. less young people. and old people living for longer.
great. wonderful. shit.
so we reap what we sow. every action has a reaction. and people will continue to be idiots. thanks guys. thanks for fucking up the world and trying to pretend its still a beautiful place that will last forever.
its like in third grade we teach everyone that christopher columbus discovered the new world in 1492 and then suddenly americans were born.
then in college you learn that he killed off millions of indians with disease, genocide and slavery. and that he didnt even make it to america, he just found some islands out in the atlantic.
its like in third grade when you learn that americans had to fight indians moving westward, expanding the wonderful nation of the united states.
and then come to find out, we wiped out an entire race of human beings called native americans, and stuck them out in the desert hoping they would just die off quickly and silently.
its like in third grade when you learn about the holocaust and all the terrible things going on over there, in addition to 6 million people being exterminated.
and then come to find out we really werent interested in helping for years, and then one day we were like, oh, yeah wed better stop that before our european interests are destroyed.
just like in third grade when you thought that the world was big and deserted islands still existed and that everything was beautiful and people cared about pollution and poverty.
and then come to find out no ones doing anything about anything that matters unless they can profit from it somehow.
