depression.
it has genetic foundations. it can be triggered by environmental cues. as many as 10% to 20% of young adults experience depression.
sarah is depressed.

symptoms include:
loss of interest in activities that were once exciting
lack of sex drive
overly tired
hypersomnia
diminished ability to thnk or concentrate or indecisiveness
irritability
feelings of lonliness
preoccupation with self image
negative self image

this is what has changed her in the last several weeks. i figured it was something i had done or been doing. but after talking with her last night, it was easy for us to agree on her condition. her sister battles depression. sarah probably has had several ups and downs with depression over the course of her life, and im leaning more towards her father being depressed or had been depressed, and someone from his side of the family being depressed before him. his smoking weed as a means to alleviate his anger and irritability seems likely.
id like it very much if theresa pushed harder for therapy. pushed harder for understanding. pushed harder to better her children. rachel and sarah arent the only ones with mood disorders. abby will follow. and most likely the other siblings. i just dont think theresa has a grasp on the whole syndrome of her family, just on the individual symptoms of her children with no interest in discovering where their problems came from.

this is what depresses me.
