i feel nauseous.

i havent been home for nearly three days. i finally get back to corvallis. my return pump was billowing air into the tanks because of how much water evaporated out of the sumps. i walk by casually, turn off the skimmer to release its contents, allowing more water in the sump. i turn on the RO/DI unit, and in time know the sump will refill. probably in about six hours. the tank walls are covered in algae, and i go in my room to do some internet routines before i clean everything up.

after an hour or so, i go back out to plug in my phone to the charger and look at the tanks again. the chrysopterus tank looks like its got a particularly heavy patch of algae growing above the anemone on the glass. thats going to be fun to wipe off, i think to myself.

wait.

upon a closer inspection i notice yolks. eyes. eggs. those fucking fish have finally bred for me. thats three years of waiting. thousands of dollars. months of turmoil. frustration. and now suddenly, the weekend im gone they decide to do what ive been praying for them to do.

finally. i only gave them a quick glance and turned their lights on before i left the room. i couldnt believe it. im not sure i actually do yet. im so excited im actually nauseous.

this is where it gets exciting for a complete nerdbomber like me.
