i was told to read this story by elizabeth yates. it was the first literary book i read after my survival book series. it was the first literary book i read in several years. it was mid 2008.

i consumed it. it was just what i wanted to read. it was bleak. it was desolate. it was a transcribed retelling of the nightmares i had been having and the fantasies i created in my mind. only far more stirring. and with an unsettling ending atypical of most mainstream american fiction.

then there were whispers of a movie. and it was scheduled only a few months after i finished the novel. i was so excited to see cormac mccarthys words visualized onscreen. i was soon to be disappointed. i checked imdb every day. several times i day. hoping to get the latest updates on the film, its status and when i would be able to see it. i got the news it had been pushed back to fall of 2009. nearly a year.

so i waited.

UNTIL TODAY! the trailer was released. it looks good. it looks promising. i have very high expectations. i hope im not let down. i may try to read it one more time before the movie, just to recapture the experience and to maintain the standard as high as possible.

ridiculous, i know.
