theres a scene in Full Metal Jacket in which all of the army folk subdue gomer pyle and then proceed to beat him with bars of soap wrapped in towels. they all get their swings in, while pyle is beaten mercilessly. then it becomes private jokers turn to take a swing, who up until this moment has been looking out for pyle.

"do it joker, do it!" they taunt.

joker is unsure. unsettled. he doesnt know if he should. hes been almost a friend to pyle.

tonight i felt like private joker. watching the entire class pelt and slaughter this poor girl with negative comments about her maturing story. and they all looked and jeered.

"do it jordan, do it!" they taunt.
