I went iskating 2 Days ago it was fun I Did not holDon to the wol then I went to the back and theroo snobols.

ashtons ability now to read and write now is staggering. i approached him afterschool yesterday, reading a sign warning parents not to let their children press the handicap door opener button. his audience was a group of boys all seemingly in awe of his ability they did not share. watching him read at home is like watching a bizarre recreation of my son. an imposter, who suddenly has the ability to not just combine the awkward sounds of our alphabet, but say them in such a way that words and sentences suddenly become intelligible. ive been watching him speak for years now, so long it grows tiresome at times. but when his voice takes on that distinctly jerky, uncoordinated stumble as he reads out loud....there is something foreign about it. as if the same words he says on a regular basis in conversation, now take on a completely different sound.

his writing is absolutely heartwarming. i express silent pity as i read his attempts at mastering the inconsistent complexities of the english language. i have admired the rapid progress he has made in memorizing so much information. first and second grade up until now have vastly increased his abilities in understanding the english language. i applaud the evolution of his understanding, while scoff in amazement any of us were ever able to do the same. one forgets just how bizarre and inconsistent our language is until you watch someone learn how to read and write it. its all been rather exciting.

i sincerely look forward to the moment he masters copying prepared sentences and writing down experiences and is able then to create stories conceived of his own imagination. i hope he finds a passion for reading and writing, as i did in middle school, and doesnt get distracted by video games and cell phones as he gets older.
